Commencement Day Instructions
IIT Faculty and Staff:
Thank you for participating in Commencement. Here are some important instructions that will help make Commencement day run smoothly.
Ph.D Hooding Ceremony Friday, May 16 - Robing
If you have confirmed your attendance at the Ph.D. hooding ceremony on Friday, May 16, your robe will be available in the Hermann Hall Alumni Lounge, located on the south end of the building, starting at 3:30 p.m. If you plan on only attending the Ph.D. hooding ceremony, please return your robe once the event is over from the location you picked it up. If you plan on attending the Opening and Academic Unit Ceremonies on Saturday, May 17, you will need to wear this same robe. Unlike in past years, separate robes will not be provided. Please bring your robe with you on Saturday.
Saturday, May 17 - Robing
All faculty and staff should report for robing at the Life Sciences Building located at 3105 South Dearborn, please enter the doors on the west side of the building, on the morning of graduation, Saturday, May 17, at 8 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served.
Even if you are not attending the Opening Ceremony, you still must pick up your robe at the Life Sciences Building prior to attending your Academic Unit Ceremony. The room will be open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please note that the room will not be secured and IIT cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.
The faculty procession from Life Sciences Building to Stuart Soccer Field for the Opening Ceremony will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m.
At the end of the Commencement ceremonies on May 17, all faculty must return their robes to the check-in area in the Life Sciences Building by 4 p.m.
If you have a permanent or temporary physical condition and will require assistance in traveling to and from the various ceremony locations, please contact Anna Lockhart at 312.567.5196 to make special arrangements.
